About & Standards
How we decide what to say, and how sure to be.
Cognitive Lab is part of Educator Today. It explains the science of learning for teachers, and it tries to be exact about the strength of the evidence behind each claim.
Three evidence labels
- Established finding
Replicated findings supported by multiple studies, usually including reviews or meta-analyses. We still state the conditions under which they hold.
- Interpretation
Explanations of why an effect happens, or claims where the evidence is promising but thinner or contested.
- Classroom application
Classroom suggestions that follow from the evidence but have not themselves been tested in exactly that form.
Editorial standards
Every claim carries one of three evidence labels and at least one citation.
Every source links to its DOI, so you can read the original.
Caveats and limitations are written alongside claims, not hidden in footnotes.
Content status — available, in development, planned — is always shown.
We do not promote neuromyths such as learning styles or "left-brain / right-brain" learners.
Nothing is described as expert-reviewed until it has been.
